Description
Wat Ratchathammaram Red Temple is one of the most distinctive Buddhist temples on Koh Samui Island. Known as the Red Temple, it impresses with its unique red sandstone structures and intricate carvings depicting Buddhist stories and mythical creatures.
The interior of the ubosot is covered with bas-reliefs depicting scenes from the Buddha's life. The temple offers breathtaking views of the ocean, and its location on a rocky promontory creates an ideal space for meditation and reflection.
Unique features include a monumental staircase guarded by carved Naga (mythical snakes) and a golden stupa believed to contain relics of the Buddha.
