Description

Wat Pho (Temple of the Resting Buddha) is one of the oldest and largest temples in Bangkok, famous for its colossal statue of the Lying Buddha, 46 meters long and covered in gold foil.

The temple was Thailand's first public university, where literature, science and traditional medicine were taught. To this day, it remains a national center for the teaching and preservation of traditional Thai massage.

The temple complex impresses with its mix of Thai, Chinese and Khmer architecture and its collection of over a thousand Buddha images. Intriguing wall paintings tell the story of the Buddha's life and Thai culture.
