Certosa of Saint Lawrence

Certosa of Saint Lawrence is the largest Carthusian monastery in Italy and one of the largest in Europe.

This Baroque gem impresses with an impressive 12,000 sq. ft. viridor surrounded by 84 columns. Discover spectacular 18th century stucco work in the chapels and a spiral marble staircase in the library decorated with ceramic tiles from Vietri.

The complex also includes an archaeological museum displaying artifacts from protohistory to the Hellenistic era. Each of the 320 rooms tells the fascinating story of the site, which has witnessed important events in Italian history for 450 years.
