Casa Cava

Casa Cava is the world's only underground cultural center, carved out of limestone rock in the heart of the Sasso Barisano district in Matera. The former tuff quarry has been transformed into a 900 m² space with ten rooms, including an auditorium for 140 people with exceptional acoustics.

This place combines the raw charm of caves with modern functionality - concerts, theater performances, art exhibitions, and workshops with local artisans are held here. A symbol of Matera's cultural renaissance, it is ideal for lovers of art, music, and architecture.
