Description
Torre Marrana is an ancient observation tower dating back to the 9th century, part of Capo Vaticano's military fortifications. Built as protection against Saracen incursions, it offers breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape.
The name 'cavallàra' refers to the soldier on horseback who was responsible for spreading the alarm between the towers.
The area is rich in archaeological finds, including Bronze Age tombs and the remains of a Greek farm and Roman complex. In summer, the tower becomes the site of the 'Avvistamenti Teatrali' theater festival.

Marta Keller2 years agoNice place with small caves, peaceful both during the day and during the night, good spot for a sunset view or watching the stars.
Close to an ancient theatre, pity the grass around is so tall and abandoned.
