Victory Square

The Victory Square in Timișoara is the historic heart of the city, which played a key role in the Romanian Revolution of 1989, when Timișoara was declared the first free city in Romania.

Surrounded by impressive buildings such as the Romanian Opera House, the Metropolitan Cathedral and historic palaces, the square impresses with a mix of architectural styles from Baroque to Modernism.

The square features distinctive elements: a replica of the Capitoline Wolf, an artesian 'fish fountain' and a monument dedicated to the victims of the revolution. It is also a center for cultural events, hosting concerts, exhibitions and festivals.
