Coleman was very concise, encouraging, and patient during our lesson together. All three of us in the group got to pop up at least once during our session with the help of Coleman's guidance. He was punctual, responsive, and just a super laid back dude. He taught us fundamental skills, etiquette, and an overview on reading waves. Our lesson was centered on getting in the water following a 10-15 mins lesson on land.
My friends and I are hooked! Thank you Coleman for sharing your wealth of surfing knowledge- it really is like magic ;)
William4 years agoColeman is truly a gentlemen. His demeanor is very likable and chill. My son (10) has been obsessively watching surf movies for months so we decided to get him into some lessons.
Coleman does a great job breaking the lesson into a short tutorial about the waves, the science & biology of the ocean and then a really long time out on the water actually doing and practicing. For kids he does great holding the board while their catching the wave (just the first few times) to help with balance and get him used to the feeling. Then my son was able to try it on his own but the instructor was always by his side. My wife and I really enjoyed chatting him up on the beach while my son and he were taking a break. Coleman is full of useful info from a lifetime of surfing and ocean sports.

A4 years agoColeman was the only person that got back to us (literally within minutes) after searching for lessons in Malibu. He was very responsive and accommodating through text message. We spent maybe around 10 minutes on the beach going over basics like getting up on the board, balancing, and paddling, then were out in the water. His teaching style was to the point and very flexible. Learned a lot in just 2 hours and Coleman is a wealth of info!Related categories
