Description
Hermit's Rest is a unique, historic structure designed by Mary Colter in 1914 at the western end of Hermit Road in the Grand Canyon. The structure intentionally resembles a natural shelter built by a mountain hermit, using local wood and boulders.
The interior impresses with its rustic character with a semicircular niche with a fireplace, convincing visitors that it is an authentic old building. Breathtaking views of the canyon can be enjoyed from the observation deck, and inside there is a snack bar and a room where indigenous handicrafts were sold.
