Description
The Legion of Honor is a unique fine arts museum in San Francisco, modeled after the neoclassical Palais de la Légion d'Honneur in Paris.
The collection spans over 4,000 years of art history, from ancient Egyptian, Greek, and Roman antiquities to European paintings and sculptures from the 15th to 20th centuries, to impressive works by Rodin. The museum also houses one of the world's largest collections of prints, with over 90,000 works.
Built in 1924 as a memorial to those who died in World War I, it offers dramatic views of the Golden Gate Bridge and the Pacific Ocean.
