Description
Falkland Palace Royal Tennis Club is the oldest operating tennis court in the world, built in 1539 for King James V of Scotland. This unique sports facility differs from modern tennis courts in its historic design and lack of a roof.
The court measures an impressive 97 feet by 33 feet and offers an extraordinary experience of playing royal tennis. For more than 450 years it has witnessed historic events, including a visit by Queen Elizabeth II in 1958.
The venue is a real treat for history buffs and tennis enthusiasts alike, who can experience the game as practiced by Scottish royalty, including Mary Stuart, who often indulged in the pastime.
