Description
Kadikoy Bull Statue is an impressive bronze sculpture by French artist Isidore Bonheur from 1864. Originally named 'Dovusen Boga' (Fighting Bull), it symbolized the strength of France after its victory over Germany.
The statue has a fascinating history - it has been moved several times as a result of political and military conflicts. It was captured by the Germans during the Franco-Prussian War and later donated to the Ottoman Empire.
Today, the bull has become a beloved symbol of the Kadıköy district and a popular meeting point for locals and tourists alike. The vibrant area surrounding it is full of colorful markets, cafes and stores.
