Description
The Lopinot Historical Complex is an authentic 19th-century cocoa plantation founded by a French count fleeing the revolution in Haiti. The restored house-museum contains fascinating artifacts from the era of slavery, and legends of ghosts and vampires add to the mysterious atmosphere of the place. It is the birthplace of parang, Trinidad's traditional Christmas music. Among the historic buildings, you will find cocoa mills with distinctive roofs and a prison with thick bars. The park offers picturesque picnic areas by the river, ideal for family outings.
