Description
Peveril Point is a picturesque cape on the east coast of the Isle of Purbeck peninsula in Dorset. Constructed of shale and limestone, this geological natural wonder offers breathtaking views of Swanage Bay and the rock formations of Old Harry Rocks.
The site has a fascinating history - during World War II it housed tunnels connecting artillery positions defending the entrance to Southampton Water. Today, it's a nature lover's paradise, where you can watch nesting seabirds and sometimes even dolphins and seals.
The trail from Peveril Point to Anvil Point Lighthouse is a moderately difficult 6-kilometer trail, perfect for an active day outdoors.
