Description
Path to Spanish Fortress is a remarkable tourist attraction in Hvar, offering a combination of history, architecture and breathtaking views.
Dating back to the 13th century, this fortress, also known as Spanjola, was built during Venetian rule and later expanded by Spanish military engineers.
The path to the top takes about 30 minutes, but the effort is well worth the spectacular views of Hvar town, the harbor and the Pakleni Islands. On sunny days you can even spot the Italian coast!
The impressive structure with four bastions, a church and a prison is a fascinating history lesson for any lover of architecture and the past.
