Description
The Rubjerg Knude Lighthouse is a fascinating monument that has survived thanks to a remarkable relocation in 2019.
Built in 1900, it originally stood 60 meters above sea level, but over time fell victim to coastal erosion and windblown sand. Despite efforts to stabilize the dunes, the lighthouse was decommissioned in 1968.
Today, having been moved 70-80 meters inland, it is a popular attraction that draws more than 250,000 tourists a year. From the top of the 23-meter-high structure, visitors can enjoy breathtaking views of the North Sea and surrounding countryside.
