Description
Kaiserbrunnen is a fascinating fountain in the heart of Constance that combines history, art and symbolism. Built between 1897 and 1903, it depicts a wealth of medieval symbolism and local legends.
Its three-tiered structure shows grotesque faces symbolizing vices, figures representing medieval social classes and a statue of Emperor Frederick III at the top. In 1990, the fountain was decorated with additional sculptures, including a three-headed peacock symbolizing the three popes ruling simultaneously in the 15th century.
It is an ideal destination for history and art lovers who appreciate discovering cultural heritage in an unusual way.
