Isola dei Pescatori

Isola dei Pescatori is a picturesque island in Lake Maggiore, also known as Isola Superiore. This small island (350 meters long and 100 meters wide) impresses with its narrow streets and traditional buildings with characteristic balconies, which used to be used for drying fish.

The island is adorned with the Church of San Vittore, dating back to the 11th century, which is a national monument with beautiful frescoes and wooden sculptures of the patron saints of fishermen.

Although fishing has given way to tourism, you can still enjoy delicious fish dishes at local restaurants. The small community (about 25 residents) cultivates centuries-old traditions.
