Description

Dunnet Head Lighthouse is a historic lighthouse located on the northernmost point of the Scottish mainland. Built in 1831 by the famous engineer Robert Stevenson, grandfather of writer Robert Louis Stevenson, it is a true architectural gem.

The 300-foot cliffs offer breathtaking views of the Pentland Firth and the Orkney Islands. It's a great place to observe seals and seabirds such as masconurs, gulls and cormorants.

The surrounding moorland and the remains of World War II fortifications add to the site's historic charm.

avatarMike Winkley3 months agoMotorhome night stopover off grid. A bit blowy and a little wet, but with great views. They wouldn't turn the light out, which is fair...
avatarDorottya Pál3 years ago“Most northerly point of mainland” Loved it so much! Infinite green land and lots of birds! The weather was quite cold but every single minute worth it. If the weather is clean from the cliffs you can see the islands and they look amazing.
