Balto Statue is an iconic bronze statue in Central Park, commemorating the heroic sled dog who helped deliver diphtheria serum to Nome, Alaska in 1925.
This sculpture by Frederick Roth, placed on a natural boulder, has become a favorite of visitors, especially children, who love to climb up Balto's back.
The monument is adorned with a plaque with an inspiring inscription about the perseverance, fidelity and intelligence of the sled dogs who traveled 600 miles in Arctic conditions to save the people of Nome.
