Description
Topkapı is a fascinating palace-museum in Istanbul, having been the former seat of the Ottoman Sultans for nearly 400 years. Built in the 15th century, the palace complex covers an impressive 700,000 square meters and combines Byzantine, Seljuk and classical Ottoman styles.
The museum showcases priceless collections, including Ottoman clothing, weapons, armor, miniatures and manuscripts. The most valuable exhibits are the Holy Relics believed to have belonged to the Prophet Muhammad, the famous Topkapı Dagger, and one of the world's largest diamonds, the Lysenko Diamond.
