Description
Thoor Ballylee Yeats Tower is a fascinating 15th century Anglo-Norman tower that became the home and inspiration for William Butler Yeats.
This four-story structure with a stone spiral staircase and seven-foot thick walls was purchased by the poet in 1917 for just £35.
The tower became the source of inspiration for Yeats' most famous poems, including 'The Tower' and 'The Winding Stair.' Today it's a museum dedicated to the poet, where visitors can admire original artifacts and learn about his work through audio-visual presentations.
The surrounding area is stunning with a picturesque stream, waterfall and historic mills.
