Description

Monumento de la Antorcha Olímpica México 1968 is a unique sculpture commemorating the passage of the Olympic flame through La Gomera during the 1968 Summer Olympics in Mexico.

The monument symbolizes the merging of Mediterranean and American civilizations, recreating Christopher Columbus' first voyage to the New World.

Installed in a picturesque location overlooking the harbor, it is an important landmark for lovers of Olympic history and sports memorabilia. It was designed by sculptor Ezequiel de León and restored in 2006 after damage.
