Description
The Ladywell is a fascinating historical monument in Speen, dating back to pre-Christian times. It is one of Britain's forgotten sacred springs, famous for its healing properties, especially in treating eye diseases.
The stone structure with decorative paneling attracts history and nature lovers. The site is famous for its unusual echo, which clearly repeats words of four or five syllables, and legends of a spectral figure standing beside the spring.
Local children throw coins into the water to make their wishes come true, keeping the centuries-old tradition of this magical place alive.
