Description
Tantallon Castle is an impressive medieval fortress dating back to the 14th century, perched on a cliff overlooking the Firth of Forth in Scotland.
It is the last curtain-type castle built in Scotland, with a massive 12-foot-thick wall. For more than three centuries it was the stronghold of the influential Douglas family, surviving numerous sieges, including by James IV, James V and Oliver Cromwell.
The fortress walls offer spectacular views of Bass Rock and the North Sea. You can explore the staircases, corridors and chambers, and climb the tower for panoramic views of the area.
