Gendarmstien

Gendarmstien is a 74-kilometer walking trail that runs along the eastern part of the Danish-German border. It is named after the border guards who patrolled the area between 1920 and 1958.

In 2015, the trail was certified as a 'Leading Quality Trail - Best of Europe', becoming the first European quality trail in Denmark. The trail is divided into five stages, each with unique features and historical significance.

As you hike Gendarmstien, you will discover a variety of landscapes: meadows, forests, marshes and coastal views. The trail passes through picturesque villages and historical sites, offering a unique combination of natural beauty and cultural heritage.
