Turtle Foundation Boa Esperança camp

The Turtle Foundation Boa Esperança camp is a seasonal field camp on the remote northern coast of Boa Vista, where a fascinating mission to protect loggerhead turtles takes place from June to October.

Night patrols, turtle tagging, and nest monitoring are part of everyday life at this site, which has reduced poaching from over 1,200 to just 20 turtles per year since 2007. Former poachers now protect these same beaches as rangers.

This is an opportunity to take part in a real conservation adventure at one of the largest sea turtle nesting sites in the world.
