Blue Reef Aquarium Portsmouth is an underwater paradise for lovers of sea creatures. Discover more than 50 fascinating exhibits showcasing a variety of marine life - from tropical sharks and rays to giant lobsters, elegant seahorses and playful otters.

The star of the aquarium is the huge coral reef tank, where you can view hundreds of colorful reef fish up close through an underwater tunnel. Interactive exhibits, micro-exposures and tide pools provide a comprehensive view of marine life from British waters to tropical reefs.

Interesting animal feeding demonstrations and educational talks make the visit both fun and informative.

avatarSparrow3 months agoThe most healthy aquarium I’ve seen in a while! The fish were very good and the whole space was easy to navigate. You can leave and enter at any time after buying a ticket, and there’s a cool gift shop at the end. As a fish enjoyer this was such a great experience, I recommend it.
avatarKym Bracegirdlea week agoWe were very excited to take our 3 year old here today. Unfortunately it wasn’t what we expected. It took us a 39 minutes to do the whole aquarium, this was including the 15minute sting ray feed. To which I will say was interesting. But unfortunately that was the highlight of the whole 39 minutes. There isn’t much of a variety to see. We would assume there would be activities on the way round for younger ones but wasn’t, . There were Many facts posts etc which were interesting but nothing interactive for younger ones to engage with. The outside play area was not inviting and very basic with minimum activities for children and looks unkept. I wouldn’t say this is a day out for a family. And you’d see more variety of fishes in an aquatic shop. Very dissatisfied feel we waisted £60 on entry. We didn’t even try the cafe which is located outside the aquarium so you can’t even buy a coffee and sit in “play area” with your child if you wanted to. The gift shop selling animals that are nothing to do with “sea life” and the ones that did have were overpriced and again not the ones we saw. We do understand the funds go into feeding the animals and maintaining the aquarium but feel this could be done better and it has a lot more potential to get it where it could Be. Good luck for the future.
avatarNeon Blue2 months agoIt was a good place, I loved seeing the fish and it was nicely maintained. Good price. Very quiet too, which is great if you're looking for a spot to relax and just enjoy the sea life. There's a nice range of fish from seahorses, a walk in tunnel, little sharks, starfish, even a lobster which crawled up to the side of the tank threatened me and then crawled back into his comfortable tunnel. However, there's one small thing which made me alter the review to 3 stars. The man manning the till seemed polite enough, and yes, it isn't really necessary to hold doors open for people. He did a kind gesture when he helped to hold the doors open for me and my wheelchair, but on the way out he didn't budge. It could be my imagination, it was hot put all weekend... but if there's a chance he wondered why my legs worked when using them to push open the door. Well... I have vertigo when standing for so long. The wheelchair helps prevent palpitations which cause fainting episodes. Hence why my legs worked, but the rest of me didn’t.
