Damsite Historic District

Damsite Historic District is a unique place combining history with nature and recreation. It features historic cottages built by the Civilian Conservation Corps during the Great Depression, offering a comfortable stay overlooking Elephant Butte Lake.

You can rent a boat, kayak or paddleboard, take scenic hiking trails or simply relax in a cozy cabin. History buffs will appreciate the stone walls, pergola and pathways created by the CCC, to which a special monument was dedicated in 2008.

A vantage point at Elephant Butte Dam provides breathtaking views of the surrounding area.
