Description
Fort Caroline National Memorial commemorates the first French colony in North America, established in 1564, where Huguenots sought religious freedom. A 1:3 scale replica of the fort, complete with authentic cannons and a bread oven, transports visitors back to the era of French-Spanish rivalry.
The site of the first military conflict between European powers in what is now the United States. Trails lead through the Timucuan Preserve with its Native American village. Dolphins in the river and wild habitats add to the charm of this historical expedition.
