Description
The Cistercian Abbey of Chiaravalle di Fiastra is one of the best-preserved Cistercian monasteries in Italy, founded in 1142 by twelve monks from Milan.
This unique blend of Romanesque and Gothic styles impresses with its simple façade with a rosette and ornate portal. With a single nave and two side aisles, the church showcases the beauty of medieval sacred architecture.
The abbey is surrounded by an extensive nature preserve (4448 acres) established in 1984, offering trails, picnic areas and archaeological, agricultural and wine museums. An ideal place for lovers of history, architecture and nature.
