Description

Špilberk is a fascinating 13th century castle that hides a remarkable history. Originally a royal fortress, it later became the toughest prison of the Austrian monarchy, known as the 'prison of nations,' where famous prisoners like poet Silvio Pellico were imprisoned.

Today it houses the Museum of the City of Brno with impressive collections of weapons, clocks, glass, porcelain and artwork. Particularly interesting is the exhibition dedicated to sculptor Ondřej Schweigl.

The castle's walls offer a beautiful view of the entire city, making it a favorite place for locals and tourists to stroll.
