Description
The Pedralbes Monastery is a 14th century Gothic monument that is an architectural gem in Barcelona. The name comes from the Latin 'Petras Albas' meaning 'white stones,' a reference to the material used during construction.
The unique three-story cloister, with its wide arches and central orange garden, impresses with its tranquility and harmony. St. Michael's Chapel conceals frescoes by Ferrer Bassa from 1346, inspired by the works of the Italian master Giotto.
The former dormitory has been transformed into a museum of sacred art, featuring works from the 14th to the 20th centuries, including works by masters such as Rubens and Fra Angelico.
