Nasrid Palaces

The Nazrid Palaces are the heart of the Alhambra complex—a gem of 14th-century Islamic architecture and the seat of the last Muslim rulers of Spain. The three palaces are stunning in their craftsmanship: the Mexuar with its Islamic decorations, the Comares Palace with its symmetrical pools and geometric tiles, and the famous Palace of the Lions with its fountain supported by 12 marble lions. Vibrant mosaics, carved columns, arabesque motifs, and Arabic calligraphy create 'speaking architecture' that combines art, religion, and poetry.
