Description
The Museum of Sacred Art of Bilbao is housed in a former Dominican convent dating back to 1514, offering a serene journey through 800 years of Basque religious heritage.
The collection of over 2,000 works includes unique treasures: Spain’s largest collection of English alabaster reliefs from the 14th–15th centuries, a silver pelican from Peru dating from 1766, and 15 paintings by Luca Giordano. Three sections—sculpture and painting, goldsmithing, and liturgical vestments—span from Romanesque origins to the present day.
It is an intimate alternative to the Guggenheim, ideal for lovers of medieval and Renaissance art.
