The Monumento al Marqués de Larios is a spectacular bronze and marble monument by Mariano Benlliure, commemorating the philanthropist who financed the construction of Malaga's most important street.
The sculpture has a dramatic history: in 1931, it was thrown into the port, and after the civil war, it was restored to its place. The allegorical figures symbolize the work and gratitude of the city. Originally facing the sea, today the monument looks towards the elegant Calle Larios, which is living proof of the Marquis' vision.
