Description
Slieve Binnian is Northern Ireland's third highest mountain (747 meters above sea level) located in the Mourne Mountains range. It offers unforgettable panoramic views of the Irish Sea and, on clear days, even the Isle of Man and the Wicklow Mountains.
The summit is characterized by wide, flat areas with impressive rock formations called Back Castles. The historic Mourne Wall, built between 1904 and 1922, crosses the mountain and surrounds the Silent Valley reservoir.
A route for experienced hikers follows the wall, over southern and northern rocks, before descending past Blue Lough and Annalong Forest.
