Sir Nicholas Winton Statue

The Sir Nicholas Winton Memorial is a moving bronze sculpture placed on the platform of Maidenhead train station.

It depicts the hero sitting on a bench, reading a book with images of the 669 Jewish children he saved from the Holocaust in 1939.

The monument commemorates the remarkable Kindertransport operation, during which Winton organized the evacuation of children from Nazi-occupied Czechoslovakia to Britain. The inscription on the monument recalls this heroic mission, providing a moving testimony to human courage and compassion in times of crisis.
