Description
Sir Arthur Conan Doyle is a unique cultural attraction in Crowborough, associated with the creator of Sherlock Holmes, who lived here for 23 years.
In the center of town is a life-size bronze statue of the writer, commemorating his contribution to world literature. Although Windlesham Manor - home to the Doyle family from 1907 to 1930 - is not open to the public, the surrounding area offers scenic walking trails, which were often used by the author himself.
Fans of Doyle's work can explore the inspiration for his stories in the nearby Ashdown Forest and admire the architecture of Groombridge Place, the estate that influenced the creation of 'The Valley of Fear'.
