Description
Battle of Glen Sheil is a unique historical site in the picturesque Scottish Highlands. Here, on June 10, 1719, the last battle on British soil was fought by foreign troops - Jacobites supported by the Spanish against government forces.
This is the only battlefield in Scotland with surviving modern remains - a stone wall where Jacobite ammunition was stored. The site is surrounded by the spectacular landscape of the Glen Shiel valley, which stretches for 9 miles from Loch Cluanie to Loch Duich.
The combination of fascinating history and breathtaking views makes it a must-see for history and nature lovers.
