Description

Serra da Estrela Nature Park is the largest protected area in Portugal, covering 888 km² of mountainous massif. The place impresses with glacial valleys, natural lakes and rock formations resembling human figures.

The park is famous for its abundant snowfall in winter, making it a paradise for winter sports enthusiasts. The rich flora and fauna, along with vast herds of sheep and Serra da Estrela dogs, add to the unique character of the place.

Sheep's milk is used to produce the famous Queijo da Serra cheese, made according to traditional methods. Numerous hiking trails, waterfalls and scenic views await explorers.
