Description
The Serbian National Museum is the oldest and largest museum in Belgrade, founded in 1844. Its impressive collection includes more than 400,000 artifacts, ranging from prehistoric artifacts to works of modern art.
Among the most valuable collections are sculptures from Vinca (6th to 5th millennium BC), the 1186 Miroslav Evangeliary, and coins of Philip II of Macedon and Alexander the Great. The museum building, recognized as a Cultural Monument of Great Significance, is an architectural gem in its own right.
It is a fascinating journey through millennia of history and culture of Serbia, the Balkans and Europe.
