Sentier des Casemates

Sentier des Casemates is a fascinating 6-kilometer hiking trail in Alsace that combines physical activity with a history lesson.

The route passes through scenic vineyards and forests, offering panoramic views of Strasbourg and the surrounding area. The biggest attraction is the preserved World War I fortifications and bunkers, complete with information boards.

During the hike, you can admire a variety of military architecture: infantry positions, observation posts and ammunition stores. The trail follows the former strategic route of Fort Mutzig, providing a better understanding of the region's military past.
