Schwanheimer Dünen

Schwanheimer Dünen is a unique nature reserve in Frankfurt that was created about 10,000 years ago during the last ice age.

These inland dunes offer a sand ecosystem that is rare in Europe, where you can admire unique flora and fauna, including endangered species. An ideal place for walking, bird watching and getting in touch with nature.

The area has been protected since 1984 and covered by European law as a habitat for flora and fauna since 2003. Spring and autumn are the best time to explore this fascinating natural treasure of Frankfurt.
