Description
The Sanctuary of Our Lady of Lichen is one of the largest shrines in Poland and Europe. The impressive basilica, built between 1994 and 2004 to a design by Barbara Bielecka, impresses with its monumental architecture with a 141.5-meter tower and a dome reaching 98 meters.
The shrine houses the miraculous image of Our Lady of Lichen, dating back to the 18th century, which attracts thousands of pilgrims. The sanctuary is also famous for its 157-voice pipe organ, the largest in Poland.
This unique place combines spirituality with history - its origins date back to the revelations of Our Lady to the shepherd Mikołaj Sikatka in 1850.
