Description
Sanctuary of Isis and Magna Mater is a fascinating historical monument in Mainz, exploring the spiritual practices of the Roman Empire. Founded in the first century AD, the shrine was dedicated to the Egyptian goddess Isis and the Anatolian mother goddess Kybele.

Soraya Lingbeek Lingstraa year agoVery interesting Roman excavations which can be entered through the shopping mall Römer Passage in Mainz. Entrance is free but you can leave a donation. They show authentic artefacts from the antique Roman era. Very qualified guides are ready to answer your questions and they show a little show to tell the story of the temple. The excavations themselves are partly open and partly under a glass floor to view from above
