Description
The cave drawings at Tanum are a fascinating Bronze Age monument, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Covering an area of 51 hectares, there are more than 3,000 petroglyphs depicting ships, sledges, animals, people, hand and footprints, trees and weapons.
These intriguing engravings, located 25-30 meters above sea level, are a unique source of knowledge about the daily life, spiritual practices and rituals of the ancient Scandinavians.
Particularly impressive is the Fossum petroglyph, which stands out for its coherent composition of many figures arranged in a thoughtful pattern.

Purpur_in _in the last weekVery nice place. There is a free parking area close to the museum. You have to cross the street and there is a rock with carvings. There are more rock in a short walk (150 m from the main rock). It was very nice to see. There is information available in each rock both english and swedish.
