Description
Rumeli Hisarı is an impressive Ottoman fortress built in just four months by Sultan Mehmed II in 1452.
Strategically located at the narrowest point of the Bosphorus, it played a key role in the capture of Constantinople. Today, you can admire the three main towers named after the Visigoths who oversaw their construction, and enjoy breathtaking views of the Bosphorus Strait and the Fatih Sultan Bridge.
The fortress now serves as a museum and open-air theater, where concerts and festivals are held. It is an ideal place for history and architecture lovers.
