The ruins of Krzyżtopór Castle in Ujazd are a fascinating architectural gem from the 17th century.

Designed as a calendar, this monumental building has 4 towers symbolizing the seasons, 12 halls representing the months, 52 chambers like the weeks of the year and once 365 windows - one for each day.

Once more powerful than Versailles, Krzysztof Ossolinsky's magnate's residence delighted in luxury - it had a system of ventilation, heating and water supply to all rooms. According to legend, 370 white stallions were kept in the mirrored and black marble stables, and the ballroom had a crystal ceiling that was the bottom of a huge aquarium.
