Description
Ruins of the Roman Aqueduct is a fascinating historical monument dating back to the 1st century AD. This impressive example of Roman engineering was the tallest aqueduct north of the Alps, stretching some 9 kilometers in length.
Built during the reign of the Flavian dynasty emperors (69-96 AD), it supplied fresh water to the Roman legion camp on Kästrich Hill, where 12,000 soldiers were stationed.
Today you can admire the foundations and 58 pillars of this remarkable structure along the 'An den Römersteinen' path. This is a great place for history and ancient engineering enthusiasts.
