Description
The Rodmarton Long Barrow is a fascinating Neolithic tomb dating to around 3800 BC, also known as the Windmill Tump. This prehistoric monument has a unique 'false gate' of two standing stones and a stone lintel, which does not lead to the inside of the barrow.
In the northern burial chamber, the remains of 13 skeletons and two arrowheads were discovered, indicating the rich burial practices of early farming communities.
The courtyard in the eastern part of the barrow was likely used for ceremonies and rituals, providing a glimpse into the spiritual life of our ancestors thousands of years ago.
